About Me
So, who IS this JimPrice.Com guy, and why does he have
this site anyway? Well, quite honestly, this site started in
1994 as a page of links that were interesting to me, and
that I was saving on my desktop. Somewhere along the way, I got the
idea of registering the domain name, and, well, it kinda grew from
there.
So who am I, and what do I do? I live in Dallas, and
am a software engineer and project manager.
I've done other sorts of engineering,
including helping to build electronic toll-collection
systems for Amtech, and have
had the pleasure of working for TI, Compaq and Uniden along the way, as well
as a couple of exciting startups including Broadband Gateways and Pinpoint
Communications. On the side, I also sometimes work as
a mobile DJ. When I'm not working, I like to walk, jog,
and listen to music. You can find out what's playing at my house by tuning in
to Live
365. I also enjoy watching indoor soccer, and used to be a huge fan of
the Dallas Sidekicks.
A couple of years ago, I traveled to Florida a lot for business,
and a friend of mine there gave me a good intro to sailing. One of these days,
I'll buy my dream boat, a Beneteau 40. Of course, I'd
settle for a First 40.
A number of years ago (when it was new enough to be novel and cool), I bought
a Connectix QuickCam and of course, felt compelled to conduct the usual experiment
in self-photography. After a bit of fun in Corel Draw, here's
how it turned out:
As you can see from the composite shot of my living
room (below), I like the artwork of M.C.
Escher . Here's an ftp site where you can find more
Escher. Here's another place.

Of course, these days, who cares about a grainy, fisheyed black-and-white
photo, since you can get mega-high-resolution color digital cameras for
cheap almost anywhere. Of course, someone once said that black-and-white
IS more artistic. :)
Speaking of digital cameras... these days, I shoot Nikons for fun, and every now
and then, I post a few shots to my Flickr! page. You
can also take a peek at a few shots in a different presentation by clicking on the FlickRiver thumbnails below:
